DynaVap 2021 OMNI Review

How does the new Omni compare to its predecessor?

Oh, joy! It’s that time of the year again. DynaVap traditionally announces one or more new versions of their prized battery-free and open-flame pen vaporizers every year around the month of April. A smart move, knowing 420-day is just around the corner.

Then again, the people behind the now-iconic vaporizer brand are a smart bunch indeed, the company being mostly comprised of vape-fanatics and engineers.

This year, however, these vape-nerds have outdone themselves with not just releasing one new model of their exceptional hand-held vaporizers, but three!

DynaVap has not only updated the Omni but also their flagship VapCap ‘M’ as well as the Vong. Let’s go and check ’em out and see what new features these vapes will bring.

For those who aren’t familiar with the DynaVap family

In this review, I will be focusing on the new 2021 Omni. A word of note to those of you who’ve never tried or owned a DynaVap vaporizer before, in this review I’ll be paying extra attention to the updates and changes of this new Omni compared to its predecessor; the OmniVap XL: Titanium. So, if you’re new to the Dynaverse, I highly suggest you read this DynaVap introduction article to see what all the fuss is about. But, know this; no matter which version of DynaVap vaporizer you have or use, they’re all excellent.

For those who are dying to know what new features this updated version of the 2020 Omni has to offer, let’s get right into it.

The look and feel of the new DynaVap Omni 2021

It’s been a while since the last iteration of the Omni came out. I believe it was early 2018 when OmniVap (XL) Titanium dropped.
A lot has changed for the Omni (DynaVap has decided to call it just that from now on; The Omni), both esthetically as well as functional.

The first thing that drew my attention was the almost cyberpunk look of the new design. The tip with the nine heat-sync-fins (the previous Omni had five) looks very raw and industrial, all the way to the studded rotation ring that gives off a punk rock vibe. That ring is the esthetic cut-off point. From there on the design morphs into a more science fiction style.

That same ring, by the way, isn’t just for looks, it helps tremendously while rotating the device during the heating process. It offers more grip and control over the rotation.

The next thing that Omni-fans will immediately zoom-in on are the new Airports. Not only are they horizontal now, there’s two of ‘em! (I’ll be talking more about those in a moment)

The Rocker* is more pronounced as well. Might seem like a minor change, but the added grip and control is a welcome addition for sure.

* The textured part of the main body that helps you locate the airports by touch and provides grip while ‘rocking’ the Omni back and forth at the inhale.

I want to point out one small gripe I had with the new Omni mouthpiece. Contrary to the previous Omni, this 2021 version doesn’t extend when you twist it to adjust the condenser to add more airflow. Instead, DynaVap has replaced it with a dial indicator. This indicator should show you exactly how much extra airflow the condenser provides.

I say should because unlike with its predecessor, I can’t really tell what ‘setting’ it’s dialled into anymore. If the symbols on the dial could just give me a bit more indication as to what setting I’m using, that would have been a great help.

This new Dial Indicator gives me absolutely NO information on what setting I’m in now.

Now let’s get to the last-but-best new design feature that comes with the 2021 DynaVap Omni: The new helical condenser. Not only does it look awesome, it doubtlessly offers much-added performance — but more on that in the next paragraph, first take a look at how beautiful this new condenser is.

Handling and performance of the DynaVap 2021 Omni

The handling of the Omni is downright excellent. Due to its length and the punk rock-esque studded ring, it rotates comfortably and feels steady in the hand during the heating process.

But, we’re all here to read about how well the flavour and cloud production is, aren’t we?

And it’s at this point where I get really enthusiastic because the new Omni is preciseas all get-out!

I like to go for ‘flavour hits’ after packing a fresh bowl, but I want to have thick clouds on the second and third hit of that same bowl. Not that I couldn’t do that with the previous Omni, but with the 2021 Omni I have some much more control over the airflow, it is like day and night.

I’m sure it has something to do with the new helical shaped condenser. It most likely directs and regulates the airflow better, but I’ll have to wait until George and the DynaVap team makes a separate video on their YouTube channel before I can be 100% sure on that fact.

Another feature that gives me so much more control over the airflow has to be the horizontal airports. Their new position and the fact that there’s now two of them offers pin-point accuracy where even the slightest twist of the device changes the airflow and draw resistance. This makes finding the sweet spot for the perfect flavour or cloudy hit so much easier. Really, I can’t emphasise enough how much more accurate the new Omni is over the old one. DynaVap, I salute you!

The adjustable Omni mouthpiece probably helps with this accuracy, but to be honest, I never got the feeling it added much to the overall experience, even with the older versions of the Omni.

Maybe you’ll have a different opinion, but I stopped trying to figure out how much difference twisting the mouthpiece open or closed actually makes a long time ago.

The verdict on the DynaVap 2021 Omni

The new Omni’s look and the ability to precisely control airflow give me more than enough reasons to replace my old 2018 OmniVap XL Titanium. Not saying that model was bad, not at all. This year’s model, however, has improved so much that it can be considered a serious upgrade.
